GTA 6 Developers Raise Concerns About Alleged Broken Promises on Crunching

Rockstar Games developers are not happy about being told to come back to the office for the final work on GTA 6. This has upset them because they're worried about facing long working hours, known as "crunch," like in past game releases.

Security Worries Lead to Office Return

For a long time, fans were waiting for info about GTA 6, and leaks in September 2022 finally gave them a sneak peek. Now, as the game is almost done, Rockstar wants its developers back in the office because they're worried about more leaks. The CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, said these leaks made the team feel bad, so they want everyone back in one place.

Developers Concerned About Crunch and Broken Promises

However, the developers are not happy with this decision. They're afraid the tough working conditions, called 'crunch,' will come back. Some devs shared their worries, saying, "After so many broken promises, we now fear management may even be paving the way for a return to toxic 'crunch' practices." They also mentioned health problems and that Rockstar promised they could work from home flexibly, which now seems broken with this new office rule.

To make matters worse, there's still no clear release date for GTA 6. Rockstar only said it would come out in 2025, leaving fans waiting for more details.
