Old School RuneScape Overhauls Troublesome Skill in Massive Update

Old School RuneScape (OSRS) players can expect a significant shift in gameplay dynamics with the forthcoming Project Rebalance update, aimed at addressing long-standing issues within the game. Among the various adjustments, the rework of the Agility skill stands out as a major overhaul to enhance player experience.

Addressing Core Issues

In response to player feedback and in an effort to improve the early and mid-game experience, developer Jagex has announced substantial changes to the Agility skill. These modifications, outlined in a developer blog post on March 13, encompass adjustments to XP rates, course variety, and the overall usefulness of shortcuts.

Key Changes and Enhancements

The upcoming Agility rework introduces significant alterations to XP rates across various courses, encouraging players to explore new training grounds as they progress. Highlights include:

  • Draynor Village Rooftop Course: Lowered requirement from Level 10 to Level 1.
  • Gnome Stronghold Agility Course: Requirement lowered from Level 1 to Level 10.
  • Al Kharid Rooftop Course: Increased XP rate to 12,000 per hour, up from 9,360.
  • Barbarian Outpost Agility Course: Added 5,000 Strength XP per hour.
  • Falador Rooftop Course: Enhanced XP rate to 35,000 per hour, up from 27,200.
  • Seers' Village Rooftop Course: Adjusted XP rate to 42,000 per hour, down from 45,600.
  • Ardougne Rooftop Course: Increased XP rate to 70,000 per hour, up from 62,300.

Moreover, all Agility courses will now reward Marks of Grace, while certain obstacles hindering training consistency have been removed, such as the notorious jump near the end of the Canifis Agility Course.

The Brimhaven Agility Arena receives substantial updates, including quality-of-life enhancements, XP rate boosts, and dedicated training worlds for players to collaborate and earn additional rewards. Lastly, various Agility shortcuts undergo revisions, with reduced requirements to make them more accessible to early and mid-game players, including adjustments to Agility level requirements and the removal of Achievement Diary prerequisites.
