Guilty Gear Strive Announces Return of A.B.A. as DLC Character in Season 3

Guilty Gear Strive is adding fan-favorite A.B.A. as a new DLC character for the fighting game's Season 3 and players can expect the long-missed homunculus to arrive on Mar. 26, 2024.

The last time that A.B.A. appeared in Guilty Gear XX Accent Core R was in 2012 and her return was announced during the Arc Live AWT Preview Show. She will be released alongside a free update that introduces a new battle stage that is known as "Fallen Prayer, Engulfed Lives."

The new update also includes balance changes and a new special move for Millia Rage called Artemis. Players who want to be able to take control of A.B.A. will have to purchase her for $6.99 individually or as part of the game's Season Pass 3 for $24.99.

The beloved homunculus is known for being jealous and belligerent from time to time. However, she is also very considerate and sympathetic towards other people. Her jealousy does have specific benefits whenever she is in combat. A.B.A. can enter the powerful Jealousy Rage state by meeting specific conditions, according to IGN.

After she enters this state, she has improved movement and gains different properties for the majority of her normal, special, and Overdrive moves. A.B.A. also comes alongside her "reluctant husband" named Paracelsus, who takes the form of a magical battle axe named Flament Nagel.

As the two spent more time together, Paracelsus slowly started to change into the form of a large key. Now, A.B.A. wants to find a human body for him and to discover why these things are happening to him.

A.B.A.'s return through Guilty Gear Strive marks the third character to be included in the game's Season Pass 3 following the reveal of Johnny and Elphelt. There will also be one last character coming out in the game's current season that will join the fray later this year.

Jealousy Rage State

The game's developer, Arc System Works, said that when A.B.A. is at the start of the round, she will be slower and weaker but will get faster and more aggressive with her Jealousy Rage state. Her reveal also showed that her design was changed, going away with her red hair that is being replaced with long, teal locks, said EventHubs.

During the character's buffed state, Paracelsus' head turns black and looks like it is melting while the blade also changes to appear much more dangerous. The creator of the series, Daisuke Ishiwatari, said that since A.B.A.'s time away from the spotlight, she found joy out in the world to enjoy things like makeup and fashion.

The developer also said that the previous voice actor for Paracelsus, BlazBlue director Toshimichi Mori, will not be reprising his role. He would be replaced by Akira Kamiya in the Japanese version.

A.B.A.'s medical theme also makes a return as she can be seen with plenty of bloody bandages trailing her silhouette. During the battle, she swings around Paracelsus with reckless abandon to deal massive damage to enemies, according to ESports.
