Frostpunk 2 Beta Will Give Players a Taste of the Frigid Survival Game if They Preorder the Deluxe Edition

Frostpunk 2 will have a beta soon that will give players a taste of the upcoming survival city-building game if they preorder the title's Deluxe Edition.

On top of letting players play the game ahead of the full launch, the Deluxe Edition will also include three post-launch DLC packs and a variety of other digital bonuses. The Frostpunk 2 beta comes only to PC but the game will also be made available to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S.

The full game will be made available in the future as part of the PC Game Pass but then players will still have to shell out extra as the early access will only be included in the Deluxe Edition. The original game was already considered to be the most stressful and darkest city-building game and the sequel seems to be expanding on that even further, according to GamesRadar+.

The beta for the latest installment in the franchise is coming six years after the launch of the original title and the developer, 11 Bit Studios, is continuing to work hard until Frostpunk 2's release.

Players who pre-order the Deluxe Edition of Frostpunk 2 and want to play the beta will be able to play the early access starting on Apr. 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. EST. The end date of the beta will be on Apr. 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. EST. This means that players will have an entire week to dive into the game before its official launch, which is scheduled for Jul. 25, 2024.

The Frostpunk 2 beta will noticeably hype up fans of the franchise who are wondering just what will be included in the early access of the game. The key feature that can be experienced here is the Utopia Builder Preview, which centers around the Utopia sandbox mode.

What To Expect in the Sequel

Additionally, only a part of the mode will be made available during the beta, and in order for players to play the full sandbox mode or Frostpunk 2's highly anticipated story mode, they will have to wait until the game's full release. Furthermore, the beta will only include English and Simplified Chinese languages, said Destructoid.

The official website of Frostpunk 2 also notes that the newest title in the franchise is set three decades after the apocalyptic events that covered Earth in snow and ice. In the sequel to the original game, players will be given control of the leader of a group of people who are trying to survive the harsh environment and work on expanding their city.

This would include the typical survival genre trope of gathering resources and finding new sources of power, the latter of which plays a crucial role in the game's story. The main idea in Frostpunk 2 is that the worst has already gone even though the ongoing blizzard is pushing society to its utmost limits.

Humanity has now grown accustomed to the new and cold surroundings, which has resulted in ambitions starting to be fostered.
