'Banjo Kazooie' Spiritual Sequel 'Mingy Jongo' Is Dead, According To Reddit AMA With Grant Kirkhope

Still Waiting On a 'Banjo Kazooie' Sequel? Well, You Can Probably Stop Now

Remember Mingy Jongo, the Banjo Kazooie successor that was being made by a couple of ex-Banjo staff?

I needed a refresher course because it's been a while, but yeah, it did exist. It even had a Twitter account, so you know it was legit.

Why am I using the past tense to describe everything? Well, it's because the game is now officially axed, according to a Reddit AMA with former Banjo and Donkey Kong 64 composer Grant Kirkhope, who was one of the main people working on Mingy Jongo.

"Whatever happened to that meta-project with you and other makers of Banjo Kazooie who were going to make a spiritual successor to BK?" Reddit user Twisty_Tie asked Kirkhope in the AMA.

"The other guys actually had a secret meeting in a pub near Rare and we even got as far as having a character drawn up and a demo level type thing but it all fell to bits .... everyone's got other jobs etc," Kirkhope responded.

So, there you go. RIP Mingy Jongo. We hardly knew ye.

But wait, there's more! Kirkhope did answer another question of interest to Banjo fans:

"Would you be willing to work with Rare on Banjo Threeie?" loldontcare420 asked.

"Of course!" Kirkhope responded.

Book it, Banjo Threeie is on the way! (Just kidding.)

As with any Reddit AMA, it's entertaining, so give it a full read and let us know how excited you'd be for an actual Banjo Threeie in the comments.
