'Grim Fandango' Remake Announced For PS4 & PS Vita

At Sony's E3 Press Conference last night Sony revealed huge news- Tim Schafer is working on a remake of his classic adventure game Grim Fandango, exclusive for PlayStation systems.

Dead Island 2 Announced At Sony E3 Conference

Grim Fandango hit was first released way back in 1998 for PC, right about where people were getting tired of point-and-click adventure games. Not even the game's amazing sense of style (you play a office worker collector of souls living in a Day of the Dead-themed afterworld) and incredible, hysterical dialogue was enough to convince people to pick it up, and it was a bit of a flop. It pretty much signaled the end of point and click adventure games, in fact, until Telltale Games picked up the mantle years later. Despite its hard times Grim Fandango earned numerous game of the year awards and went on to become a cult classic in its time, even though it has never appeared in another version.

This PS4 and PS Vita remake was revealed during Sony's conference as they read a letter from a 12 year-old girl...wait, a 10 year-old girl, who loved Tim Schafer's games and wanted to see them on her magical PS4- until it was soon revealed that the author of the letter was Schafer himself.

Mortal Kombat X Gets Absolutely Brutal E3 2014 Gameplay Trailer

Unfortunately no gameplay footage for the Grim Fandango remake was shown but the announcement is enough to send gamer's hearts swooning. Grim Fandango isn't just one of the best adventure games ever made, it's one of the best games ever made, period, and we have long been without a version that's compatible with our new systems.

One thing that we can hope for is them to repair the infamously bad controls. They weren't awful but they were clunky, the first attempt at letting you walk around a 3D environment in an adventure game, and while they weren't bad enough to mar the experience it's basically the only negative thing you could say about the game. If they fixed that up things would be incredible.
