'Neverwinter: Tyranny of Dragons' Classes: Scourge Warlock Class Announced For New 'Season of Dragons' Campaign

Throw Shade Like A Boss With New 'Neverwinter: Tyranny of Dragons' Class Scourge Warlock

The city of Neverwinter's Tyranny of Dragons will be challenged by a new set of character classes and features - the first of which was released by publisher Perfect World and dev Cryptic today. The scourge warlock will introduce a brand new game mechanic called "Warlock's Curse", and is described as a "powerful striker", effective against both single foes and groups.

Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter MMO: New State Of The Game Trailer With Developer Commentary

The already released screenshots show the class to be a classic necromancer style demon summoner/shade thrower in terms of looks.

How it actually plays will be up to you to find out from now till December 31, the end of the Season of Dragons campaign. For players of the Dungeons & Dragons table top game, the Warlock's Curse is not new: call out the foe that you'll curse for a round, get one extra die of damage against it. It'll be interesting to see how Cryptic translates this into not only a video game environment (target foe - mark, then attack?), but also juggle it between single foes and groups.

Neverwinter Gets Released - What You Need To Know

Besides the scourge warlock, Cryptic and Perfect World promise new races and regions added to the world of Faerûn in the coming months. Keep an eye on the game's official website for news on these boggarts and beasties as the studio deems fit to release it like an especially starved displacer beast caged by a lich confronted with a party of adventuring heroes.

If you haven't played Neverwinter yet, give it a shot. It's the first Western fully free-to-play MMO designed to be so from the ground up. What have you got to lose? Arrow-pierced kneecaps are in that other franchise.
