Tekken 7 Will Be Newb-Friendly, Katsuhiro Harada Says

The ever-reliable Katsuhiro Harada keeps drizzling out Tekken 7 news tidbits expertly, this time talking about difficulty scaling for experts and newbies, and gives some canon info about a certain "Arab" character.

Tekken 7 Figures Revealed: Anna, Nina, Jun

In an interview with Famitsu, translated by Eventhubs, Tekken 7 director Katsuhiro Harada talked a bit about the developer's mission statement: "There are two main sides to Tekken 7. The first is to neatly tie up all of the storylines that have developed over the course of 20 years for the Tekken series. Since it's Tekken's 20th anniversary, story will play a big part this time around, which is why we wanted to tie things up and reach a conclusion. So in that sense, we hope to be able to wow and recapture the imagination of players who focus on characters and backstories in the games. This will take quite a bit of time to put together, but we have a couple of things in store. [...] As for the game side of things, we want to make it easy to approach for newcomers, returning players, and also those who thought that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was just too difficult."

Even though Bandai Namco will strive for noob-friendliness, Harada tries to assure veteran players all will be catered to: "We want to allow seasoned players to be able to start at the deep end. But at the same time, beginners will be just fine not using the advanced mechanics. That's the balance we're striving for."

Tekken 7 PC Version Confirmed

Meanwhile, on Twitter, Harada-san divulged that Zafina is not Arabic and that her ethnicity is actually a mystery. Tekken Tag Tournament II composer Akitaka Tohyama will "probably" join Tekken 7.

Harada-san promised a great big update on the game this September at Tokyo Games Show.
