Evolve Beta Coming To Xbox One, Hunt Or Be Hunted This January

Cooperative monster-hunting title Evolve will be running an open beta on Xbox One in January.

EA Access Now Available On Xbox Live

Turtle Rock Studios' title--originally slated for October--was recently pushed back to February 10. Alongside the beta announcement during Xbox's event at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, the developers also revealed a short trailer for the map Distillery.

Distillery will offer a variety of features that will impact gameplay, including mixing and matching hunters and monsters, snowstorm weather events, and more. Evolve is coming to PlayStation 4 and PC as well, but only an Xbox One beta was mentioned at the conference.

Destiny Beta Character Progress Will Not Transfer To Full Game

Evolve pits four human-controlled hunters with different skill sets against one giant, powerful monster, which is also controller by another player. The hunting team needs to work together and make use of its skills to take out the monster, which becomes more powerful and unlocks new powers through each match. The maps themselves pose a threat to the hunters as well, with various natural hazards or dangerous wildlife.

Evolve was playable at E3, and a large tournament was hosted and streamed through the course of the conference. The title looks to have a potential future in competitive gaming, for those interested in competing or viewing.

Take-Two announced the game's delay earlier this month, but it's far from the only game that has already been pushed back from what was (and still is) a packed October for game releases. Battlefield Hardline and Dragon Age: Inquisition were also moved out of October, but the month will still feature Super Smash Bros for 3DS, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Assassin's Creed Unity, and even more big titles.
