Titanfall Update 6 Brings 8 On 8 Player Game Mode With No Titans

A new game mode coming to Titanfall will remove the titular Titans from the action, offering only pilot-on-pilot combat.

Called Pilot Skirmish, the 8v8 mode has no A.I.-controlled combatants or Titans. The mode will not be available in the Variety Pack playlist due to the conflict in player numbers compared to the other game types.

The developers also announced that Marked For Death is becoming a permanent mode after its positive reception. It was meant to be a temporary game type that would be rotated with others, but the consistent player interest has turned it into a full-time mode with its own playlist.

Other details, including fixes and changes to gameplay and new burn card features, can be found in the official post on the game's site. Changes include that joining a game in progress that ends up as a loss will not be recorded as such on your record, and that three new colorblind options have been added. Several bugs and glitches have been addressed as well--check the post for full, specific details.

The hulking mechanical Titans have obviously been the game's biggest draw as a gameplay feature, but it was the acrobatic pilots that pleasantly surprised. The ability to quickly traverse the level, and do so vertically, provided much more nuance and opportunities to use individual skill. A mode focused specifically on this aspect of the game has potential, jokes about it just turning into Call of Duty aside.
