Smite MOBA Update: New Mayan God Announced With Trailer, Odin And Arachne Updated, Bacchus Gets Elvis Skin

A New Challenger Approaches: Mayan Snake God Comes To Smite MOBA As Bacchus Dresses Up As Elvis [VIDEO]

Kukulkan, the Mayan god of the winds, is making his way into the MOBA Smite in an update that also makes changes to the kits of existing characters Arachne and Odin.

Witcher Mobile MOBA Enters Closed Beta

Kukulkan, whose name literally translates to "feathered snake," is joining the roster for the game that pits gods from pantheons all over the world against each other. Though Kukulkan is attributed in Mayan mythology as having given mortals all four elements – earth, fire, water and air – he is most associated with air as he is said to wear a necklace containing the power of the winds around his neck. These powers are on display in Kukulkan's Smite reveal trailer.

From what the trailer shows, Kukulkan seems to excel at ranged gameplay. All of the winged snake god's attacks are performed at a distance, and he even has the power to get out of a sticky situation in a hurry with an ability that increases his speed and makes him immune to slowing attacks for a short period. He also is able to do damage to a group of enemies, having multiple attacks that focus on one enemy while lightly affecting adjacent enemies.

The same update that's introducing Kukulkan is also revamping two existing characters, Arachne and Odin. Greece's own weaver is getting a full loadout makeover, while the All-Father of Norse mythology is becoming a bit more balanced with a new ability and updated passive and ultimate abilities. Odin has been a tricky character to nail down for the developers at Hi-Rez Studios, alternating between being broken and being underpowered. You can see a discussion of the character's progression over on the developer's YouTube channel.

Finally, a new skin has been added into the game for Roman god of wine Bacchus. The portly god can now dress up as The King himself with a new Elvis skin.

Smite is free-to-play for PCs. An Xbox One port is expected for next year.
