Clash Of Clans Update Notes Introduces Lava Hound, The New Dark Barracks Unit; Archer Towers Get An Upgrade

Who's A Good Boy? The Lava Hound, The Newest Unit in Clash Of Clans Is A Good Boy!

They've been teasing us all week with the sneak peeks of the latest update to Clash Of Clans, including a brand new unit, but Supercell has finally shown their hand: we're all getting puppies!

A New Unit And New Ways To Dismiss Them In Clash Of Clans

Well, to be exact, the new Dark Barracks unit is a Lava Hound! I knew it. What if a Golem and a Core Hound from World of Warcraft got together? Bam. Lava Hound. Supercell forum mod Marika described the little guy succinctly: "This faithful flying unit cannot resist chasing after fireworks, and will go straight after the nearest Air Defense!"

The Lava Hound is the air tank of the game. They will not do a lot of damage to the defenses, but they will occupy the enemy anti-air units long enough for you to send in the cavalry, or the Balloons or Dragons, in this case. The hounds can take a beating, easily getting deep within an enemy's village, distracting various towers. And when they die, they don't just die, they explode into a bunch of smaller hounds (Molten Corgis!) and run amok on all surrounding towers.

The hounds will absolutely change up your strategies, much in the same way that the introduction of the Golem did. Obviously, ground assaults are huge these days, but start planning to defend against air attacks.

Thankfully, to aid you in your defense, Marika also revealed that the faithful Archer Tower, that mainstay of digital defense, is getting a level upgrade. When the patch hits, you can now build level 13 Archer Towers.

Watch the Lava Hound in action in the latest video. What else do you think Supercell has planned for the next Clash of Clans update? Well, stay tuned here and we'll tell you!
