iPhone 6 Vs. iPhone 6 Plus: Both Models Share The Same 1 GB RAM, Many Specs Identical

The iPhone 6 Is Just About As Powerful As The 6 Plus, With The Same 1 GB RAM

Now that review models of the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been out in the wild for long enough, we're starting to get a better picture of how these two models run. As it turns out, they run pretty similarly, both having the same 1 GB of RAM, 9to5Mac reported.

Those who were hoping that the bulkier iPhone 6 Plus might come with some bulkier innards seem to be out of luck. With both models sporting the same 1 GB RAM (on the low end compared to other comparable phones, as an aside), the iPhone 6 Plus only has an edge in the pixel count of the bigger screen, better image stabilization and an increased battery life.

In other regards, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus look to be surprisingly similar in terms of hardware. Both come in the same three storage sizes: 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. Further, with both phones running on the same A8 chip, there shouldn't be any difference between the two in processing performance.

The iPhone 6 Preorder Process Didn't Exactly Go Smoothly

As 9to5Mac pointed out, it makes sense that Apple sees an advantage in making the two phones similar. It cuts down on production costs to have fewer parts to manufacture. It's also sure to help speed up the assembly process, which, judging by new reports and the increasing shipping delay for both models, needs all the help it can get at this point. New preorders for the iPhone 6 are warned of a shipping delay of about a week, while new iPhone 6 Plus orderers are told to expect a month-long wait.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are set to hit store shelves Friday.
