The annual Tokyo Game Show (TGS) is this weekend and developers and publishers from all over the world will be in attendance. Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil will be on hand to discuss his latest title, The Evil Within, and he's brought us a new, somber trailer just in time for the event.

Set to the heartbreaking strings of Debussy's 'Claire de Lune' (one of those pieces of classical music you've heard but can't place), the trailer unnerves the viewer completely. A solemn voice taunts as the main character shuffles down a detritus filled hallway, the incorporeal voice advancing upon him as if there is no rush at all. The trailer ends with a quick cut montage of some of the horrific things Mikami has dreamt up for you.
I say the phrase 'dreamt up' because 'nightmared up' is not a thing, though it should be. Mikami hopes to move away from the action oriented nature the latter generation Resident Evil games have taken on in order to deliver a more horror-focused game. The name of the game is survival, as you will have limited resources at your disposal and a host of horrors nipping at your heels.

"While investigating the scene of a gruesome mass murder, Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners encounter a mysterious and powerful force. After seeing the slaughter of fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead." As the trailer alludes to, there is someone out there pulling the strings and he seems utterly without remorse or pity.
I can't wait to meet him.
