Rome: Total War - Alexander's Online Multiplayer Lives Again On Steam Following Gamespy Shutdown

Following the same trend as several other Total War titles, the multiplayer for Rome: Total War - Alexander has completed its migration from the now defunct Gamespy to Steam.

The Creative Assembly Releases Rome II: Emperor Edition

Gamespy hosted the online functions of past entries in the strategy series, and they were lost when the service shut down earlier this year. The Creative Assembly previously transferred the multiplayer for Rome: Total War and Medieval 2: Total War, and today announced that the same has been done for Alexander.

The game based on the famous military leader is an expansion for Rome: Total War, which offered a new campaign map and different factions. The title was already playable on Steam, but now the multiplayer mode--which allows you to control the real-time army battles against other players--has been put back online as well. Fans will no doubt appreciate the developer's efforts on an expansion for a game released a decade ago.

Microsoft Announces Windows 10

The Creative Assembly recently announced the next game in the series, Total War: Attila. Like Alexander, it will focus on the period surrounding the rise of a specific leader, and the first screenshots seem to show that it will be based on Rome II's engine.
