The Hunger Games iOS Video Game Review, Movie Looking to Make Splash

As Hunger Games hit theatres today, Lionsgate teamed up with the creators of Canabalt to release the Hunger Games: Girl on Fire mobile app.

Players will take control of heroine Katniss Everdeen as she travels beyond District 12 to hunt for food.  Situated weeks before the 74th Hunger Games, Everdeen will need to fight for survival by running, jumping, and shooting enemies through each level.

Hunger Games: Girl on Fire takes a simple approach to both gameplay and graphics.  The 16-bit retro style look matches with the pure and simple objectives needed to complete the game.  Everdeen has the option to avoid trouble or take it head on by firing arrows.  Aiming and firing is done with a simple touch.  Swiping the screen will allow the heroine to jump up or down onto platform tiers to avoid mass enemies or obstacles.  The health bar regenerates itself but momentum is lost each time you are hit by hornets or Tracker Jackers.

The game is available for free on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.  The movie is set to be released nationally on Friday. It has received rave reviews from critics, scoring 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Movie critic Peter Travers of Rolling Stone said, "The Hunger Games has epic spectacle, yearning romance, suspense that won't quit and a shining star in Jennifer Lawrence."
