Rockstar Games announced today that Max Payne will be available on iOS mobile devices and can be downloaded from the App Store. Max Payne for Android is scheduled to follow suit later this month.
The mobile version comes with optimized HD graphics, which looks just as good as the PlayStation 2 version. Controls were also customized for mobile devices and allows for social features using the game's "Social Club " platform.
"Max Payne was the original cinematic action-shooter," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "We're really proud to bring its intense gunplay and dark story to mobile devices. Remedy did an amazing job with this game and it still feels fresh today."
Fans can relive "Bullet Time" moments from the PlayStation 2 days on their iPhones and iPads in Rockstar's latest offering. Its signature Bullet Time feature enable players to turn on slow motion during gun battles and allows for more accurate aiming.
Developers also put in Retina supported resolution for the new iPad, touch screen controls , and an auto-aim mode. Players can quickly adapt to the games basic controls with two joysticks for navigation and aiming. There are the essential fire and jump buttons along with gesture controls for swapping out guns. Its new auto-aim feature for mobile devices can also be handy during difficult fights.
The Max Payne franchise continues to delight gamers with its addictive shoot'em up gameplay and excellent storytelling. Rockstar's latest mobile game hopefully can tide over Max Payne fans until Max Payne 3 becomes available on May 15.
The Apple iOS version of Max Payne is now available and the Android will be hitting Google Play on April 26th. Users can download it for $2.99 from the App Store for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 4, iPad 1, iPad 2 and the new iPad.
