Destiny Servers Down For Scheduled Maintenance Tomorrow, Bungie Explains Why And When

Brace yourselves, devoted Destiny players: the game will be offline tomorrow, Thursday November 13, for planned maintenance.

Bungie posted the warning on its blog, letting players know to expect down time for several hours. Service to Destiny will be down from around 8 a.m. PST, and should return around noon.

The maintenance period is being used to prepare the game for a series of updates that will launch in coming weeks, the developers explained. Your playing experience after the maintenance will be no different than before, so it seems just infrastructure work is being done to set the title up for expansion and changes.

Those additions include the plans announced in the most recent weekly update from the development team. Some of the details they had previously mentioned included stronger exotic weapons, channels to talk to matchmade teammates, and some new gear. Previously unannounced features were also included in that update, however, and they are as follows:

- New shaders for your gear

- Ways to preview items before you spend your Glimmer

- Greater chances of "showers" in public spaces

- Adjustments to some arenas that needed better traffic flow

- New economies to equip you with upgrade materials

- Fixes, patches, and other invisible technical evolutions

- Some other tricks up our sleeve

- Maybe even a more generous Cryptarch

These are the updates that will be able to roll out during tomorrow's down time, so remember it will be worth it if that's when you usually get your daily Destiny fix.
