The long awaited Diablo 3, the third installment in the Diablo franchise is all set to be released on May 15 and even before its launch, the game has become the most pre ordered PC game of all times. This is not only so for Activision Blizzard but also for Amazon.com as well.
This was informed when a representative of with the online retailer Amazon.com informed GameSpot that the action role-playing game has become the site's most pre-ordered PC game of all time. This breaks the record of previous Blizzard games like Starcraft 2 and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
"There are hundreds of thousands of people who actually have Diablo 3 in their possession right now. The game was downloaded from the Internet to their computers and it's sitting there, locked away. They can't play it until May 15th, which also happens to be the day that Amazon can send out hundreds of thousands of boxes with the game inside it," writes Digital Trends.
Diablo 3 is the third installment in the Diablo franchise and comes after a gap of 12 years. It is a sequel to Diablo 2, a fantasy/horror-themed action role-playing game developed by Blizzard Entertainment.
"Diablo 3 offers an improved skill system, 5 new redesigned character classes, a new rune system and many other improvements. Diablo 2 veterans might find themselves unprepared for the new changes, wrote Diablo Speed in PRWEB.
One of the reason the game has become a hit may also have to do with the developers coming up with two versions of the auction house system which are gold-based auction house and real-money action house in Diablo 2 for the first time in the series. In this auction house system, nominal transaction fee will be deducted from the seller if the item that has been put up on auction is sold. For the first time, players will get to play with real world currency.
Coming after 12 years, Diablo 3 features a visual encyclopaedia of the creatures with passive active skills for each character. The game also comes with an overview of the crafting system with list of the base equipment items, weapons, armor and accessories.
New guides are emerging that will help guide players to increase levels for the upcoming Diablo 3 title. The latest one called Diablo 3 Speed looks to help players reach their character's Level 60 within a few days. Guides for inferno Codex assists gamers with classes, making gold, and increased levelling techniques.
Diablo 2 which was released in 2000 and sold over 4 million units in its first 14 months and the new sequel is a much better game in regards to its performance. Recently, analysts have projected that Diablo 3 is expected to ship about 3.5 million units this year.
Diablo 3 will be released on May 15 in North America and Europe and on June 7, 2012 in Latin American countries and Russia.
