Apple iPad Mini vs. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Cheaper is Better?

Apple rumours continue to swirl and iPad mini is doing its round even as 7 inch iPad is likely to be launched in October. What's more to this is it may come as low as $200 to $250 price point.

Speculations about Apple coming out with a mini iPad have been on since the launch of the original iPad and the company's plan to launch it sometime soon is a way of staying ahead of its competitors specifically with the Android market.

"Apple hasn't chosen to address that segment in desktop or laptop computers, or in phones, but they have in MP3 players and it sounds like they will again in tablets. And they'll do it in the same way -- by being cheap and good. For large scale markets like education, a 7-inch, $200 to $250 iPad would be compelling," as reported by Apple blog iMore.

The low price tag will rival Samsung's $399.99, but will the iPad mini's smaller tablet stand up to the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1?

Samsung has come up with two versions on it tablets with budget-friendly Tab like the Galaxy Tab 2 7-inch and the 10 which has been released and the other the high end quad-core Galaxy Note 2 10.1 tablet. It comes well-designed with built-in powerful speakers, responsive screen, and runs on Ice Cream Sandwich installed Android 4.0.

Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 come with 1.0 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM with 16GB of internal storage and provides micro-SD slot for additional storage. The tab also comes with 3 megapixel camera on the rear, and a 1.3 front for video chatting and self portraits. It brings a new level of experience and interactivity and multimedia sharing for the family and comes with variety of apps, entertainment facilities and Google Mobile services.

Galaxy Tab 2 is slim, lightweight and easily accessible with 10.1" display, 9.7mm slimness and the WiFi version weighs 581g. The Tab 2also  has the ability to access through the HSPA network with + 21Mbps with Bluetooth technology v 3.0 and USB 2.0 Host. It comes with a standard battery, Li-ion 7,000 mAh.

If the rumors are to be considered, the mini iPad will have the full-sized iPad's resolution which is 2048x1536. The mini iPad will also feature a pixel density of 326 ppi with retina display features.

According to a recent research undertaken by Chitika, an online advertising network, Apple's iPad tablet continues to top the market with iPad accounting for 94.64% of all tablets. Though the overall tablet market sales dropped down to about 1.2 million units in the first quarter, Apple's iPad sales grew to 68% of the total tablet market sales.

And with Apple's rumoured iPad mini launch, the company may have strategized the launch in such a way of staying ahead of its competitors like Samsung, RIM, and Amazon who are also offering 7-inch tablets.

Apple is also all set to lower the price of iPad 2 after the launch of the new iPad.

Apple may be looking to head into the lower end tablet market against Amazon's Tablet Kindle Fire, which is already priced at $200.  But Apple's high end standards could possibly pit the iPad mini against the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.
