Final Fantasy XIV Update 2.45 Will Let You Get Married In Game During The Ceremony Of Eternal Bonding; Now Taking Applications [VIDEO]

You Can Now Get Married In Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn As End Of New Quest Line

As more and more couples meet online, it only makes sense that more and more of them will seek some way to confirm their love in the digital realm. Square Enix is ahead of the curve on this and today has launched the website for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s newest addition, the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding.

The War Begins Between Goblins Vs Gnomes As Hearthstone Expansion Launches

Beginning in patch 2.45, players can profess their undying love and devotion towards one another via in-game wedding ceremony. Head on over to the Mog Station to apply. Yes, apply for a wedding certificate. “Players who wish to profess their devotion to one another may undertake the special rite of passage known as the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding.” Two players will undertake a special quest, called The Ties That Bind that will prepare them for a lifetime of smoldering resentment towards one another.

One assumes that players will not have to undergo religious counseling, take an antiquated blood-test or have endless fights over the woman taking on the surname ‘SephirothIsMyHomeboy’.

No word on what the questline will entail, but hopefully it involves killing some thousand year old god because after all, the couple that slays together, stays together.

Players can purchase - yes, purchase - one of three ceremonies. The first is three, while the Gold and Platinum plans will cost money both for you, and for the guests you invite. Couples can invite 80 other players total. The packages each come with their own special rings, costumes, flowers, carpeting and even an officiant, depending on your price.

I feel like Square Enix should really create a new Job titled ‘Wedding Planner’ for this latest addition to the game.

The Ceremony of Eternal Bonding will take place at the Ivory Chapel housed within the Sanctum of the Twelve.”

Potential attendees can be invited via in-game item, which they must show in order to access the Chapel. Sorry, no wedding crashing will be tolerated. There is no word on what, if any, kinds of gifts players should bring or if a registry of epic level weapons is available via an in-game shop. However, such things really need to happen.

Additionally, there is no word on whether or not the ceremony comes with a reception featuring an open bar. Look, lady, I’m taking time out of my raiding schedule to attend your ceremony to that Black Mage jerk (you can do sooo much better, honey), the least you can do is ply me with booze.

Reservations for the following week start every Friday at 1:00 a.m. (PST). Players must wait until Friday, December 12, 2014 at 1:00 a.m. (PST) before making reservations.

Send us your wedding pictures. We’d love to see em.

Coming up in version 3.0 will be the I Never Really Loved You questline, in which previously married players must navigate the complicated and harsh land of Di’vorce, battling one another across a myriad of hellscapes in order to secure sweet, sweet freedom.

Head on over to the official Ceremony of Eternal Bonding page for all the details and pricing.
