Eaten Alive? Not Exactly: Discovery Channel Fails To Make Good On Hype For Special, Creator 'Doesn't Care' [VIDEO]

Eaten Alive Host Bails On Dinner Plans

If you were one of the people looking forward to seeing a giant snake eat a man, sorry, life has disappointed you once again. Discovery Channel's much hyped Eaten Alive has failed to deliver on its promise of being a real life Anaconda, reported Deadline.

The premise of the show was simple. Paul Rosolie was to don a crush-proof suit and let an anaconda devour him. Good, wholesome TV right there. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on where you stand on the issue) the pre-dinner constricting proved to be too much for Rosolie and he called the whole thing off.

This isn't the first time the show met with controversy. It originally angered animal activists when it was revealed that this was meant to be a real life people eating, not some CGI enactment. The concern was that swallowing a person, which is not in a snake's normal diet, would cause the poor animal irreversible damage on the inside.

The plan was to capture a giant anaconda that Rosolie had seen this one time during his trip to the rain forest. Well after searching for nearly the entire special, they failed to locate this snake. So they had to use a backup snake. Considering that this was the Plan B animal and Rosolie couldn't handle that, it's likely this thing would have ended the same way even if they found the elusive mega-snake in the jungle.

Rosoile responded to comments about his failing to complete his mission with this statement, "I don't care if you're upset I didn't get eaten by (an) anaconda. A, I tried, and B, there's a chance for me to do work with the Discovery Channel and bang my drum about the dangers [to the Amazon], and I'll do that," he said in an interview with NJ Advance Media.

Yeah, I don't think America got that conservation was the point. Watch him fail to be eaten below.
