Xbox One vs PS4 Sales: For November, Black Friday Lets Microsoft Become Month's Best-Selling Console In US And UK

Xbox One Wins Console Sales War For November

The Xbox One may finally be turning its fortunes around. After a year of sitting behind the PlayStation 4 sales juggernaut, Microsoft's next-gen console became the best-selling console in the U.S. and UK for November 2014.

Total Xbox reported that, thanks to crazy Black Friday sales, the Xbox One set internal sales records and became the top-selling console in both the States and the UK for November. A huge part of this success is no doubt due to the two separate price cuts that the Xbox One has seen this year.

Earlier in the year, Microsoft started offering a model of Xbox One without an included Kinect to meet Sony at its $400 price point. Then for November – and continuing for the rest of 2014 – the console received an additional $50 discount, making the console cheaper than the PlayStation 4. Throw in Black Friday sales that pushed Xbox One bundles as low as $330, and it's no wonder that the console sold so well.

"We are committed to making Xbox the best place to play, with this year's best games, the best community of gamers to play with, and terrific value," reads a statement from Mike Nichols, Xbox corporate vice president of marketing, on Total Xbox. "And we are amazed by the excitement Xbox fans have shown to start off this holiday."

Nichols went on to say that November 2014 also now holds the record for the month with the most Xbox Live logins in the history of Xbox.
