Need for Speed Flags Down A Director

Of all the racing games Hollywood could option, it went with the random choice of "Need for Speed." Likewise when choosing their director, rather than going the Michael Bay route like that did for the "Need for Speed: The Run" trailer, they've gone with Scott Waugh, best known for co-directing "Act of Valor."

Deadline broke the story about the possible hire, which last week noted it was the first purchase in a while by Dreamworks. This would make for Waugh's first non-military themed directorial role and would come from a first-time script by traditional producer George Gatins. So, to sum up, "Need for Speed" will be a film from a first-time commercial director that has cut his teeth predominantly as a stunt coordinator with a script from the Executive Producer of "She's Out of My League."

Can't lose, right?
