Marvel's Daredevil Sets Netflix Release Date For April Alongside A Bold And Fearless Poster Reveal
Marvel's Daredevil has gotten a new poster and at last, a release date.
The Netflix original series, the first of four planned interlocking shows (including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist) will debut all 13 episodes on April 10 at 12:01 a.m. EST. At roughly noon that day, there will be a comprehensive list of all Easter eggs present, with detailed backstories of each. Because that's how the internet rolls, son.
The series stars Charlie Cox as the Man Without Fear, Matt Murdock, defender of justice during the day and enforcer of it at night. Vincent D'Onofrio will co-star as The Kingpin, one of Marvel's most well known and respected street level villains. The series is produced by Joss Whedon alums Steven S. DeKnight and Drew Goddard.
The plan is to unite all four heroes into a crossover film tiled The Defenders. While the series will work within the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe, and as such may run alongside certain events (Age of Ultron premieres a few short weeks later), it is unknown how much influence the films and shows like Agents of SHIELD will have on it. Given the non-apocalyptic scenarios of the characters in question, they can easily fly below the radar of any major plot contrivances or crossovers.
Fans can view the motion version of the poster, which has the entirely overused but still cool looking 'burning/lit up hero logo' emblazoned onto the streets of New York City. It doesn't look like any part of Hell's Kitchen that I know, but who knows how the city was rebuilt in the aftermath of the Chitauri invasion at the end of the first Avengers?
We all look forward to it. And more importantly, we all really look forward to watching all four series in complete chronological, interlocking order. Now there's a marathon I'm ready for.
