Ten Popular Games by Activision: #4

Activision has released some very notable franchises/games over the years and so I thought, why not do a run-through of ten video games that we all have heard a lot about and/or have played a few dozen times?

Brief overview of the previous six:

#10: "Crash Bandicoot" series

Starting out with an all-time classic, this series has been around for quite some time. However, in 2008, Activision took over as publisher introducing the franchise to wireless platforms.

#9: "Spyro the Dragon" series

Activision took over as publisher in 2008, and the series has sold more than 20 million units worldwide.

#8: "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance" series

Players are able to become a superhero and test out the abilities of Spiderman, Wolverine, Thor, and even Captain America in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (2006) and its predecessor (September 2009).

#7: "X-Men" series

After Activision presented X-Men: Mutant Academy, for Game Boy Color and PlayStation on July 6, 2000, gamers just couldn't get enough.

#6: "James Bond" series

Bond, James Bond, is a pretty popular guy, especially in the movies. So, Activision made a smart move in May 2006 and acquired non-exclusive rights to publish James Bond games. One year later, the rights became exclusive.

#5: "Prototype" series

The Blacklight doesn't stop Alex Mercer in Prototype (2009) nor does it stop James Heller in Prototype 2 (2012). Activision reveals the numerous abilities that can be exerted in the game, which definitely gives much room for exciting gameplay.

Time to skate on over to # 4...

# 4 "Tony Hawk"

Ever since I learned to skateboard (and I am by no means a pro... at all), I always felt like the Tony Hawk video games were just the greatest. I started off with Skateboard Park Tycoon for Windows, so the Tony Hawk video game franchise was a huge step up.

Professional Skateboarder Tony Hawk gained a lot of fame for being the first to fully complete and land a 900 (See video below for a visual of this skateboard trick). He has numerous licensed video game titles distributed by Activision and is considered one of the most successful and influential pioneers of modern vertical skateboarding.

The series began with the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, in 1999. It was very successful and so a number of follow-ups were released:

 * Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (2000)

 * Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (2001)

 * Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 (2002)

 * Tony Hawk's Underground (2003)

 * Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (2004)

 * Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (2005)

 * Tony Hawk's Project 8 (2006)

 * Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (2007)

 * Tony Hawk: Ride (2009)

 * Tony Hawk: Shred (2010)

For the Rodney Mullen fans out there (me), you were probably very happy to see his appearances in Underground, Underground 2, American Wasteland, Proving Ground, and Ride. The young Professional Skateboarder Ryan Sheckler made his debut by being a playable character in Underground 2, American Wasteland, Project 8, Proving Ground, and Ride.

Tony Hawk's Skater HD will be released on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in June 2012.
