Rumor: Overkill/Valve Project May Be a Left 4 Dead Prequel?

The partnership between Valve and Overkill Software may not be a Left 4 Dead sequel, but a prequel according to CVG.

The rumor would be the only news around Valve that happens to come out during e3 and on the heels of Overkill being acquired by publisher 505 Games, CVG notes. Valve aren't strangers to collaborations, since their entire Mutations line of mulitplayer are about switching and changing what works whether it's Last Man on Earth or the Four Swordsmen of the Apocalypse. The collaboration was announced a few weeks ago prior to e3, but only on the Overkill end.

But for Valve to go full prequel isn't that surprising considering that they have always had trouble releasing a game with a three in the title whether it be Half-Life, Team Fortress or even Portal.

Who knows what their mysterious fear of a "3" is, but Valve's been moot when it comes to any updates or their franchises or their long-rumored "Steam Box" that The Verge reported on--wait for it--three months ago. It would, in theory, be their original hardware to battle the 360/PS console marketplace.

All we know for sure is this: when it comes to Valve, even onion rings could mean more news than they'd ever release.
