Final Fantasy X / X2 HD Remaster PS4 Release Date Announced, Preorders Available Now
It will be a banner year for Final Fantasy fans. Not only are they getting treated to the forthcoming remake of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD and, hopefully, Final Fantasy XV. The new mobile title Record Keeper is due out in a few months, too. Adding to the cornucopia of news, two of the most beloved titles in the series are finally getting the HD treatment as well.
No, no, it's not VII. Final Fantasy X and X-2 will be coming to PS4 in all their next gen glory on May 12 as part of a new HD Remaster. The game set will feature both titles, fully optimized for enhanced play and comes with the two minor expansion packs, Final Fantasy X: Eternal Calm and Final Fantasy X-2: Last Mission, each originally exclusive to the Japanese market.
The game is currently available for PS3 and PS Vita, but fear not! Crossplay between all consoles will be possible with the PS4 version, as well.
Per the official press release, "This new North American version will include system-exclusive features and a special pre-order bonus item: an exclusive calendar featuring artwork by the acclaimed artist, Yoshitaka Amano, available at participating retailers and the Square Enix Online Store."
The soundtrack has also been remastered, but players will have the options to switch between the old and new tracks, as well. Tough choice, actually, the soundtrack to X is one of my very favorite in all the series and sound is a more permanent memory. Things can look different and better all they want, but let them sound the same.
Players can pre-order Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster from Gamestop today.
