The Most WTF Live Action Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor Short Ever

There's not a lot of context behind this Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor short film. First, when we mean short it's barely three minutes long. Second, don't be put off by the weird "Intro from Oshii" video. What Machinima weirdly isn't saying is that the short was comissioned by Mamoru Oshii, director of Ghost in the Shell, Avalon and Assault Girls. He's a filmmaker who is certainly not unfamiliar to dealing with technology or action. So it's confusing when a promotional short for Steel Battalion is so dissapointing and utterly weird.

Oshii's intro provides more coherent context than the trailer. Is there a reason why the Black Widow is significant? Or why he went back to Poland to shoot via green screen, outside of referencing his 2001 film, Avalon? This entire thing is just so confusing for a Kinect sequel to a game that previously had the most expensive and comprehensive controller you could find. Compared to the original game, where failure to eject in time caused all save files to be erased in a nod to reality, Heavy Armor substutes it with Kinect controls and dealing with your rag-tag crew as you're all required to power the Vertical Tank you're commanding.

Heavy Armor comes out on Tuesday for the Xbox 360.
