Ubisoft Announces 'Assassin's Creed Chronicles', A Three-Part Epic Journey Through World History [VIDEO]

Ubisoft's Follow-up To Unity Looks Like A Beautiful Sidescrolling Adventure: 'Assassin's Creed Chronicles', Coming This April

You have my attention, Ubisoft. Fans wondering how the company would get back on track after the launch month debacle that was Unity last November have their answer: Assassin's Creed Chronicles, which is the first AC game in years that makes me stand up and cheer.

Turn Any Google Map Into Pac Man: Here's How

Assassin's Creed Chronicles is a trilogy of downloadable titles that follows the Assassin protagonists from various AC spinoff stories, and three distinct (two of which are non-European influenced!) time periods throughout history and the world. Take up the creed as Shao Jun from the animated short Assassin's Creed Embers, and Arbaaz Mir and Nikolaï Orelov from the Assassin's Creed graphic novels.

The games are presented in a 2.5D format with a beautiful artstyle specific to each assassin's country of origin. Players can manipulate the fore, mid and background to find alternate paths to safety, or to surprise enemies that stand in your way. Chronicles wears its Prince of Persia influence on its sleeve like a badge of honor, and short of getting an actual Prince of Persia title again, I'll take this.

Question: Is A Metal Gear Film Without Kojima Still A Metal Gear Film? Sony Seems To Think So

The first chapter, China, releases April 22 on Xbox One, PS4, Steam and UPlay. "You embody Shao Jun, the last remaining Assassin of the Chinese Brotherhood, returning to her homeland with a vendetta. Newly trained by the legendary Ezio Auditore, she is hell-bent on exacting vengeance and restoring her fallen Brotherhood."

Preorders begin tomorrow, April 1. Watch the wonderful announcement trailer below.
