Latest Apple iPhone 7 Leak, News, Release Date, Specs & Features, Will It Thrill Loyal Customers?

Apple's new iPhone, scheduled for release this coming September might disappoint or thrill customers, depending on their preferences. Here are some of iPhone 7 rumored features gleaned from numerous leaks from various sources.

It Could Be Waterproof

If unverified reports are correct, the iPhone 7 could be waterproof. A lot of sites have asserted this feature of the upcoming iPhone 7. For instance, Trend Force issued a press release stating that the new iPhone 7 will be waterproof, a feature it claims to be one of its major selling points that could potentially close in on Samsung's lead in sales.

A waterproof phone is certainly a welcome phone feature, especially for more accident-prone owners. Even for the more careful iPhone users, it certainly wold not hurt to know that one may still use the new iPhone 7 even after an accidental immersion in water.

It Could Even Be Dustproof

This is another upgrade feature of the upcoming iPhone 7 that could make it a standout among its competitors. According to Macotakara, the new Apple offering is not only waterproof but dustproof as well. Though it is unclear how customers would place value on such unusual feature, it is conceivable that some people might find it reassuring to know that no amount of dust could ever stop their new iPhones.

It would be Apple's Thinnest

Apple might even make the new phone slimmer than the current iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 measures 6.9 millimeters thick but the newer iPhone 7 is projected to measure in the 6 to 6.5-millimeter range. While a 1-millimeter reduction may not sound much, the new phone's reduced bulk would certainly be felt in the user's hand as well as pockets, reports Digital Trends.

No Smart Connector

The soon to be available iPhone 7 will not come with a Smart Connector which Forbes found to be a disappointment because it is considered to be a significant feature that is potentially exciting.

A Smart Connector would have allowed the phone's Lightning port to simultaneously function both as a power source and as a data port. The feature would have made allowed for third party keyboards and other accessories that no longer require charging or need batteries. The practical applications for the removed feature would be limited by the imaginations of third party manufacturers.

The Smart Connector was included in a leaked iPhone 7 prototype. However, the feature was removed by Apple in the final design for yet unspecified reason.

No Headphone Jack

The iPhone 7 will not have a headphone jack, reports Digital Trends. If this particular rumor is true, Apple will force users to rely on Bluetooth wireless headsets instead.
