Pebble 2 Release Date, Price and Specifications: Learn More About The New Smartwatch

Pebble 2 is an upgraded version of the original Pebble smartwatch and this time, it focuses more on fitness. There are so many smartwatches out there in the market and they have all similarities and differences in their features, making it so hard for customers to choose which one is perfect for them.

Pebble may not be the most powerful brand when it comes to smartwatches but it's definitely one of the most successful smartwatches out there, according to Engadget. Although they had a little hiccup when Pebble Time didn't do well as expected, but the company made sure to reclaim their spot with full force and introduced Pebble 2.

What are the differences of original Pebble and Pebble 2?

The biggest difference of Pebble 2 is that it has optical heart rate sensors. One of the first things you'll notice about the new Pebble 2 is that the face is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and the original Pebble had a plastic coating over it, CNET reports.

Pebble 2 is also thinner and definitely lighter than the original Pebble. The Pebble 2 watch has the same silicone straps as previous Pebble watches, so if you have straps from another model you'll be able to swap them. Pebble 2 also has a longer battery life which can last for 7 days of usage on a single charge.

Pebble 2 has an ARM Cortex M4 processor running the Pebble OS on the E-paper display. Bluetooth 4.1 allows the Pebble 2 to connect to your smartphone, but Pebble 2 doesn't have a wifi or a GPS system.

Pebble recently got into health tracking with its watches and it uses a variety of different sensors and algorithms to determine what kind of activity you're doing. With the addition of the optical heart rate sensors in Pebble 2, the company says it will be able to better track things like when you're sleeping or what your heart rate is when you're actually exercising.

According to Tech Radar, the Kickstarter price of Pebble 2 is US$99 (around £70, AU$140), but it is expected to retail for US$129 (around £90, AU$180). Pebble 2 will be out this coming September.
