‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ Release Date, News & Update: Remastered HD Version Arriving In The Fall [VIDEO]

Another big revelation happened at E3 2016 and this time it had something to do with Bethesda’s “The Elder Scrolls V: SKyrim”. Bethesda announced that the classic game will have a remastered version on leading game platforms like the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC, something that will arrive on October 28.

The HD remastered version confirms previous rumors tied up with an alleged special edition for “Skyrim," and much of it was shown via game trailer captioned with a “Special Edition” suffix.

In the video, the new version of “Skyrim” displays the visual improvements to expect. That includes new visual effects that include god-rays and new snow shaders as singled out by Game Spot. The special edition will also render support for PC mods.

Seeing the “Skyrim” special edition provide support for game mods doesn’t come much of a surprise. Another game title, “Fallout 4," have mods now working on the Xbox One and then the PS4 later on this month.

While the whole development should be a welcome one to “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” gamers, its performance impact on the Xbox One and the PS4 are up in the air. A concern would be the potential occurrence of game slow-downs which are tied up to the high definition textures the special edition will carry.

Notable worries include frame-rate drops or stuttering, calling to mind optimization problems which could occur in game.

Optimization issues were a concern when one calls to mind how the DLCs ran on the PS3. While the PS3 carries a bit lower specs than the PS4, the performance issue is something to watch out for once the “Skyrim” special edition comes out in October.

As far as mod support is concerned, only select mods will be available and more than likely certain large-scale overhauls won't be available for download. Fallout 4 has a 2GB mod limit, so expect a similar limitation on the special edition of Skyrim as cited by Cinema Blend.
