Catwoman Covers Up for Wii U's Armored Edition of Batman: Arkham City

A screenshot recently surfaced showing the new armored Catwoman that will be seen in the Wii U's version of Batman: Arkham City, which covers up some of the burglar's naughty bits.

For those who may not remember her last Arkham appearance, she used to look like this.

Definite difference. Nintendo's always tried to make sure it's reputation is as a company that makes consoles and games "for the family." And it's done this by subtle acts of censorship, like replacing the blood with "sweat" in Mortal Kombat on the SNES, or changing the name of the boxer "Vodka Drunkenski" to "Soda Popinski" for Punch Out on the NES.

They've down it before, so it should come as no surprise that they're doing it again, possibly as an attempt to "clean up" what many see as an overtly sexist character.

Yes, the game is the "Armored Edition," so it only makes sense the Catwoman cover herself up. After all, revealing armor isn't really effective.

But to play horny geek devil's advocate for a moment, the armor does take of away some of the sex appeal, which, for good or bad, is part of what makes Catwoman Catwoman.

Is it a Nintendo conspiracy, or just armor? Who cares? In the end, it's just a game.

Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition is expected to release sometime this winter.
