'Tekken 7' Latest News & Update: Official Release Date Announced; Game Coming To Xbox One, PC, PS4?

The latest installment in the famous "Tekken" fighting game franchise, "Tekken 7," made its way to arcades in the first half of 2015. The announcement of the PlayStation 4 version came later that year at Paris Games Week, along with the news that the game would feature virtual reality support and exclusive content.

Now, at E3 2016, Bandai Namco has confirmed that the game will also be launching on Xbox One, as well as being made available for Microsoft Windows users, marking the first time that the franchise has come to the PC.

Just like the arcade version, the console and PC versions of "Tekken 7" will make use of Unreal Engine 4, and will feature all the content from the arcade version, including the as-of-yet-unreleased latest update, "Fated Retribution," which adds new gameplay mechanics, new stages, and new characters, including guest character Akuma of "Street Fighter" fame.

The "Tekken 7" announcement also came with a trailer, which showcased a cinematic confrontation between Akuma and Heihachi, rendered lovingly in-engine with a level of detail that was previously the domain of "Tekken's" pre-rendered cinematics.

The cutscene transitioned seamlessly into gameplay, where the same frantic gameplay that "Tekken" has long been known for was in full display, along with what appeared to be dynamic stages whose layout and appearance changes as time passes.

"Tekken 7" will be out in early 2017 for all platforms. Xbox Live Gold members who purchase the game will be treated to a free copy of Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
