"Hotel Transylvania 3" is definitely happening and Sony Pictures have already announced the film's target release date and who is onboard the production.
After the second movie of the franchise became a huge hit, Sony Pictures Animation decided that it is high time for fans of Dracula and his crew to have a sound sleep without worrying that the third film would not proceed. According to IGN, the production company announced that "Hotel Transylvania 3" will hit theaters on September 21, 2018 via a press release and the franchise director Genndy Tartakovsky is still onboard.
In September 2015, Tartakovsky announced that he will no longer be working on the third "Hotel Transylvania" movie, saying that he had other things in mind that he wanted to pursue. "'Hotel Transylvania 3' is going to happen without me. Two is enough," he told The Wrap at the time.
Apparently, Tartakovsky's time away from the franchise while he did his "Samurai Jack" TV series had given him inspiration on how to do the third installment of the creepy-yet-adorable band of monsters in Hotel Transylvania. "I thought I was done exploring the world of Hotel Transylvania after the first two films, but while I was away from the franchise finishing my TV show Samurai Jack, an idea sparked that I got really excited about and made it irresistible to return and helm myself this third adventure," he said.
Adam Sandler is also returning to voice Dracula and keep the producer's seat warm beside Michelle Murdocca who is officially returning to the franchise after taking a break in "Hotel Transylvania 2." Andy Samberg and Selena Gomez are also set to lend their voice once again to Johnny and Mavis, two of the beloved main characters of the show. "Hotel Transylvania 3" is one of Sony's ways of expanding its presence in the animation landscape, Sony Pictures Animation President Kristine Belson told Deadline.
