‘Wayward Pines’ Season 2 Episode 5: ‘Sound the Alarm’ Recap

"Wayward Pines" season 2 episode 5 aired on June 22 and it was titled "Sound the Alarm." Wednesday's broadcast narrated how the Wayward Pines was created and Rebecca's biggest secret was revealed and it totally shocked her husband Theo.

As per Fox's synopsis, the history of Wayward Pines was exposed as Rebecca recalled the time when she first met Dr. Pilcher. Her connection to the town of Idaho was uncovered as well and the revelations put a strain to her marriage, as Theo could not believe what he just heard from his wife.

Rebecca's confessions

As it turned out, Rebecca and Dr. Pilcher knew each other way before the Wayward Pines was built and it was the former who actually designed the town. On top of this, Rebecca was brought to the future and although Xander said that she was knocked down unconscious while the storm was raging in Hawaii, she thinks she was abducted.

In the next scene, Theo arrived home and found Xander and his wife together. Unable to keep it a secret anymore, Xander told Theo that he was married to Rebecca for a year. Upon hearing this, Theo was at a loss and felt that he cannot trust his own wife anymore.

Rebecca tried to explain to her husband that it happened because she thought he was already dead. She also stressed that although they were married, they have not been together for half a year. Her explanation did not calm Theo who took off his wedding ring, punched Xander in the jaw and stormed out of the room.

Adam and Theresa

Theresa is still grieving after losing her son, Ben. Despite this, Adam still approached her to honestly say that he only sent Ethan to the future in order to get rid of him so he can have her all to himself.

Adam apologizes for his deed and asks Theresa for forgiveness. She was overwhelmed after hearing the truth and refused to forgive him. Even so, Adam told her never to give up on life when she told him that she rather stay outside the fence (to die) with her son.

Frank

Frank was sent to the pro-creation room with a girl. He was awkward the whole time and was not really into doing it. Seeing this, Theo asked him if he is a gay and Frank was flustered.

Frank got upset and told everyone in the room that he can do it. He added that there are rules in the Pines and he is required to reproduce. Frank is afraid that they will kill him if he cannot pro-create but his sister, Lucy, comforted him by saying that she will protect him.

Margaret: The Female Abby

Elsewhere in episode 5, Megan, who is in charge in the study of the Abbies, saw an odd spiral marking on the hand of the captured female mutant. She informed Jason and Kerry of her discovery and said, "There might be something anthropological. Maybe I can unearth something that will help us kill them once and for all," Megan said in the trailer.

Meanwhile, the presence of Margaret is alarming because, as said by Adam in episode 4, the mutant creatures typically send out a sentry before they launch an attack with the whole herd. With this belief, could the Abbies be really plotting a massive attack in Wayward Pines?

"Wayward Pines" Season 2 airs on Fox Channel every Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST.
