MacBook Pro 2016 Release Date, News & Update: New Apple Laptop May Remove Headphone Jacks Too? Redesigned Model Confirmed?

Like the MacBook Air 2016, Apple continues to hold back any potential update tied up to the MacBook Pro 2016.

Despite word from a previous post that Apple could be releasing the MacBook Pro 2016 by the last quarter of 2016, there has been no further update on the notebook successor.

Compared to the chances of the MacBook Air 2016 surviving, the MacBook Pro 2016 is considered to have better chances. In fact, changes are expected as well.

In that previous post, it was mentioned that Apple plans to come up with a MacBook Pro that can duel with Microsoft’s Surface Pro. It all stems to the “hinges” which will make the alleged notebook flexible and thinner.

Non-Retina MacBooks End of Life?

Aside from that, the word out is that stores are slowly shelving the non-Retina MacBook Pros in what many are taking as a sign of clearing up stock for the new breed of MacBook Pro 2016 notebooks.

Whenever this is done, the understanding is that stores are getting ready for new stocks to arrive – normally in the form of new models. While some are still looking for the non-Retina displays, Apple Insider singles out how some stores have discouraged customers since these variants would quickly become outdated.

Redesigned MacBook Pro 2016 models

Assuming that Apple will indeed be revealing the new MacBook Pro 2016 line, some of the features are already out in the open.

That includes an alleged OLED ‘touch bar’ that will take the place of the previous function keys as well as possibly integrating Touch ID fingerprint sensors.

Aside from that, a new rumor has cropped up recently and it has something to do with the headphone jack. This is the same feature that will reportedly be taken out from the iPhone 7 expected to debut this September.

Headphone Jacks cut off from MacBook Pro line too?

According to John Guber, “Headphone Jacks Are The New Floppy Drives” which he singles out as the possible reason why no new MacBook Pro is out in the open. He adds that Apple could be waiting for the iPhone 7 to debut with the ‘Lightning-based’ headphones before touching on the notebook line.

If so, no special headphones are expected to come with the MacBook Pro 2016. This means users will have to spend extra (around $29) for a new pair of Apple EarPods to work with it.

For now all this should not be taken seriously though it will be interesting to touch on once more (unless new updates come out) until the iPhone 7 officially comes out in the open.
