The deleted "Batman v Superman" scene is called "Communion" and is one of the greatest DCEU mysteries of the year.
For one, why was the scene released online after the "BvS" premiere? Who is that horned creature with the floating boxes? Why is Lex Luthor kneeling in front of the alien?

Director Zack Snyder has explained why the deleted "BvS" scene was released after the film's premiere (via io9).
He told reporters on the set of "Justice League" that he initially wanted to include the scene as "a cool after-credits sequence" in "BvS" but decided against it because "Marvel kind of does that."
Nevertheless, Zack Snyder decided it was a great way to tease fans about "Justice League" and found "another way to do it."
Why The "Communion" Scene Wouldn't Work As A Post-Credits Sequence
The decision to release "Communion" online was an excellent movie since it wouldn't make sense as an after-credits sequence. After all, "Batman v Superman" already concluded with Lex Luthor all shaved and nutty about bells being rung and stuff.
In addition to that, "Man of Steel" did not have a post-credits scene. Actually, none of the DCEU films have EVER had an after-credits sequence.
The release of "Communion" right after the "BvS" premiere effectively got fans talking about Lex Luthor's crazy rantings. It also sparked speculations that Steppenwolf will be the major villain in "Justice League". Not surprisingly, the rumors are true.
"Justice League" is scheduled for release on Nov. 17, 2017.
