Shigeru Miyamoto, the legendary Nintendo game designer of Mario and Zelda, stated that the company is not yet very focused on the specifications of the rumored Nintendo NX console in the meantime. He added that they are currently working on an idea related to the subject.

He said that at present, they are developing an idea for Nintendo NX, which is also the reason why they cannot reveal anything at the moment. He also does not wish to comment on other companies. Shigeru said that if things would have come out sooner, if they were merely following technological advancements.

GameSpot reported that NX is only a codename, but is believed to be a Nintendo console and mobile hybrid that will incorporate some of the latest technologies in the gaming industry. According to Nintendo, the unit will feature a brand new concept.

The console is expected to become available in March 2017. Previously, Nintendo confirmed that a number of games will be released with the new console, such as the new "Legend of Zelda," and "Breath of the Wild," as well the Wii U.

According to Tatsumi Kimishima, Nintendo president, they could have launched Nintendo NX sooner, but ultimately decided to ship it at a later date to feature more quality games. He explained that when launching hardware, the amount of quality software for gamers is equally important, so they have to set their release dates based on the availability of good titles.

In another GameSpot report, Kimishima stated that although consumers tend to spend more during the holiday season, which would be good for their business, they aim for their Nintendo NX hardware and software business to continue for several years. It is more important to arrange everything since the beginning, than hasten the process just to launch in the holiday season and take advantage of higher sales. Their approach has reportedly stayed the same through the years.

The Inquirer cited that although fans have to wait longer for the Nintendo NX to release, they will not certainly be disappointed with the final product and software. The system is expected to be very innovative, featuring the latest technology to ensure great graphics, fast performance and a reliable interface, among others. Players can also expect to enjoy the system and its array of titles for years to come.

An official announcement regarding the specs and launch date is expected soon.
