'Power Rangers' News, Spoilers, Release Date: Bryan Cranston Opens Up About His Role As Zordon

Last week, news broke out that "Breaking Bad" and "Trumbo" star Bryan Cranston had signed up to play Zordon in the highly anticipated reboot of the 90s favorite, "Power Rangers," set to hit theaters next March. The film, which will be released by Lionsgate, will be directed by "Project Almanac" helmer, Dean Israelite, with a script by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.

Cranston is currently promoting his latest endeavor "The Infiltrator," and the Emmy Award-winning actor let slide some details about his upcoming portrayal of the wise Zordon in the upcoming "Power Rangers" movie.

"The tenant of that storyline is that this a real person who is trapped in this etherworld and it becomes this in-the-wall so to speak of [the command center]," Cranston explained to ET Online. "He still has a heart and mind, but an agenda that he's got to get these five Power Rangers to defend the earth or else everyone they know will be killed."

Cranston added that most of it is motion capture and "a lot of CGI work," given that the original Zordon was merely a face in a tube with a booming voice. How they will recreate Zordon for the upcoming reboot remains to be seen, and for now, fans will have to make do with Elizabeth Banks, who they've already seen in action as Rita Repulsa back in April.

Last week, the first poster for the movie was released, featuring the silhouettes of the five teen heroes as they watch the sunset under a starry sky. The film will feature Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott or the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston (named after Bryan Cranston) or the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly or the Pink Ranger, singer and actress Becky G as Trini or the Yellow Ranger, and Ludi Lin as Zack or the Black Ranger.

"Power Rangers" will blast into theaters come March 24, 2017.
