'Ghostbusters' New Gadgets Are 'Heavy And Sharp' [VIDEO]

There's only 15 days left before fans get to see the highly anticipated (and highly criticized) reboot of "Ghostbusters," which stars an all-female cast as the lead characters. Directed by Paul Feig and produced by Ivan Reitman and Amy Pascal, the film follows four women as they team to fight the evil demon Rowan who threatens to wreak havoc in the world.

The upcoming "Ghostbusters" film has come a long way from the 1980s films, as evidenced not only by the visual effects, but also the gadgets that the heroines use to battle the supernatural. In a new featurette released by Sony Pictures, the cast go behind the scenes and shed light on all the cool new gadgets they are armed with to battle the gruesome ghosts and ghouls that threaten the human race's existence.

"I remember the first time we tried them on I thought, 'That's really heavy,'" Melissa McCarthy, who plays Abby Yates in the film, shares in the video. "There's no movie magic—it's like, do they look heavy and sharp? That's because they are."

Leslie Jones, who plays subway employee Patty Tolan, admits that she lost weight while filming the movie just by carrying around their ghostbusting props. She shared that she dropped down a few sizes from the beginning of the film, as she was a size 16 and dropped to a size 12 when they wrapped up.

According to Mashable, the new film will see the female stars as they handle prototype grenades, ghost chipper, a ghost shotgun, a ghost piston, and a proton glove to battle the evil spirits roaming around Manhattan. Even Chris Hemsworth had nothing but praises for the people behind the set and the props that made "Ghostbusters" as epic as it looks. Watch the video below.

"Ghostbusters" opens in cinemas this July 15.
