"Minecraft" is one of the most successful games today. With its soaring popularity, its makers thought of turning it into a movie and the plan materialized when Mojang AB teamed up with Warner Bros. After it was confirmed that the movie version is in the works, fans of the game want to know when it will be released.
On June 27, Vu Bui, chief operating officer of Mojang AB, announced the release date of the anticipated "Minecraft: The Movie" via the company's website. He said that their team is happy that they can finally say when the film is coming out. Bui revealed that it will hit the cinemas on May 24, 2019.

Who will direct the movie?
The producers chose Rob McElhenney to be the director of the film. He is also an actor and best known for his role as Mac in the comedy sitcom called "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." Since the director has lengthy experience in the field of comedy, it is possible that "Minecraft" may get high dose of comedic takes as well.
What is the plot?
On his previous interview with The Guardian, Bui said that there are endless possibilities when it comes to the plot for the "Minecraft" movie. He shared that they do not want to create an official story because this will only dissuade players from making their own stories when playing.
"We don't want any story that we make, whether it's a movie or a book, to create some sort of 'this is the official Minecraft, this is how you play the game' thing. That would discourage all the players who don't play in that way," Bui stated.
"Minecraft" is a game where players can make their own worlds by building anything using blocks. Gamers can construct fortresses and towers using the resources they collected from working. Lastly, the game also features fighting scenes when creatures appear to annihilate the characters.
