"19 Kids and Counting" alum Jessa Duggar recently showed support for the controversial Ark Encounter Museum inspired by Noah's Ark in the biblical stories. The Ark Encounter is a creationist museum in Williamson, Kentucky that wants you to think that dinosaurs were like pets just a few thousand years ago.
'19 Kids and Counting' Alum Jessa Duggar Supports Creationism
In an Instagram post last week, "19 Kids and Counting" alum Jessa Dugar and husband Ben Seewald showed their support for the Ark Encounter, which opened on Thursday, July 8. The Ark Encounter is a replica of the 500-foot Noah's Ark, which houses different species of animals including dinosaurs and unicorn, The Hollywood Gossip reported.
The post of "19 Kids and Counting" alum Jessa Duggar received backlash for showing support to the controversial project. Comments on her photo include:
"Wow this money could've easily been used to help others;"
"Your time would be much better spent reading nonfiction books. Perhaps one on shipbuilding."
"19 Kids and Counting" stars are known to have controversial beliefs and practices. The Duggars are known to support rigid Christian practice such as abolishing homosexuality, even hinting on supporting Donald Trump.
The Controversial Ark Encounter
The Ark Encounter was established by Answers in Genesis, which is spearheaded by AIG President Ken Ham. Ham is popularly known for pushing for initiatives to include creationism in schools.
If this isn't controversial enough, the Ark Encounter had reportedly employed unfair practices in hiring its employees. The company required all employees to sign "statements of faith" confirming that they are Christians, denying everyone for equal employement.
However, the most talked about controversy is the $18 million tax incentives given to Answers in Genesis for the Ark Encounter project.
The Ark Encounter also received backlash for the animals on display, which include dinosaurs and unicorns. According to Ham, dinosaurs lived domestically with human side-by-side. Instead of millions years in age, the Earth is supposed to be 6,000 years old only, Huffington Post earlier reported.
