The "It" reboot film is currently in development. Based on the 1986 horror novel by Stephen King, "It" was first adapted into a TV miniseries 25 years ago.
In June 2016, reports surfaced that Bill Skarsgard will take on the role of the new Pennywise The Clown in the "It" reboot. The first glimpse of the evil clown recently surfaced online, taken from the early stages of the "It" reboot's principal photography.
Cinema Blend noted that Skarsgard's version of Pennywise is just as scary, if not more terrifying, than the original version, played by Tim Curry.
The colors of the makeup are the same as the 1990 version and Stephen King himself thought that the 2016 clown appeared freaky, staring straight at the camera with an impish smirk.
The image seemed to connote that Pennywise in the "It" reboot could suddenly appear from the shadows and kidnap anyone anywhere.
In the "It" novel and miniseries, Pennywise The Clown is a demonic shapeshifting creature who takes advantage of people's fears to hunt them down.
Bill Skarsgard told Entertainment Weekly that the Pennywise in the "It" reboot still rejoices in the suffering of others. He shared that it was vital that they introduce something fresh and original for the "It" reboot.
Skarsgard continued that they purposely did not want to move towards the "weird, greasy look," but wanted to fully enjoy the shape of the clown Pennywise, the game and the hunt. Other people might frown at what Pennywise deems funny in the "It" reboot.
Skarsgard also said that he is much younger than Tim Curry when he plays Pennywise in the "It" reboot, which will change the dynamics with the children.
There will be more childish traits in the manner that the creature presents itself to the main characters. The timeline has also changed in the "It" reboot, being set in the late 1980s, instead of the late 1950s.
The "It" reboot will actually be featured in two movies. The first movie, which will launch in 2017, will follow seven small town children who will collaborate to put an end to Pennywise's reign of terror.
The second film, which will be made depending on the success of the first movie, will still focus on the same characters years later. They will return to the town as adults and encounter Pennywise again.
The "It" reboot is directed by Andres Muschiett. The film is set to launch on Sept. 8, 2017. More updates and details on the "It" reboot are expected soon.
