'The Blacklist' Season 4 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Liz Keen's Mom Katarina Rostova Returns; Details Here

"The Blacklist" Season 4 is set to return soon. Liz Keen (Megan Boone) apparently faked her death to get away from Raymond Reddington (James Spader). More about her relationship with alleged father Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen), as well as mother Katarina Rostova (Lotte Verbeek), are expected to surface in the upcoming episodes.

Previously in "The Blacklist," it was revealed that Liz survived the delivery of her baby. However, she is currently with criminal mastermind Alexander Kirk, who claims that he is her real father. The real motives of Kirk remain hidden at present, while Liz only wishes to be reunited with her baby Agnes. "The Blacklist" Season 4 is expected to tell us more about Kirk, particularly a backstory, to create a connection to Liz and explain why he suddenly appeared after all these years.

CarterMatt reported that Kirk may also appear in the "Blacklist" spin-off, starring Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold). As for Red, he has to look for a way to immediately locate Liz and offer her more protection. The story will most likely delve on how Red and Kirk became longtime enemies. Previously, Liz wanted to stay away from Red to protect her family. The two are expected to reunite again and realize that they actually need each other, no matter how strange their relationship is.

Cinema Blend revealed that "The Blacklist" Season 4 will delve more into Liz's mom, Katarina Rostova. Lotte Verbeek has reportedly signed to appear in at least two episodes of the new "Blacklist" season. The character first surfaced in "The Blacklist" Season 3, when Red was struggling with his emotions, believing that Liz died from childbirth, and had a vision of Katarina on the beach. For most of the series, Katarina was a Russian spy, believed to have died from drowning when Liz was only a little girl.

Although Red told Liz that her mother is gone, he himself seemed to be doubtful about Katarina's fate. In "The Blacklist" Season 3, Red found a file labeled "Rostova," hinting that there may be certain things that he does not know or is trying to keep hidden. It is still uncertain how she will come up in "The Blacklist" Season 4, but it may finally show that Katarina is actually alive. "The Blacklist" Season 4 will air on Sept. 22, 2016 on NBC.
