'Overwatch' Latest News & Updates: Olympics Themed Update Out; 3-on-3 Brawl Mode Released

In line with the 2016 Olympics, Blizzard launched a new "Overwatch" update, themed after the major sports event. The huge update included several features and details inspired by the Summer Games.

The new "Overwatch" update includes new skins, a new Brawl mode and several Loot Boxes. Lucioball is a new 3-on-3 Brawl mode, which is the "Overwatch" version of "Rocket League," showcasing areas that are quite similar to the latter title. Teams of Lucios play against each other on a field in Rio de Janeiro, with the ultimate objective ofmoving a giant ball into the enemy goal. Each "Overwatch" match last four minutes.

According to GameSpot, players will notice that Lucio's abilities in the "Overwatch" game mode are limited, including his capacity to shoot. Lucio can instead use his Soundwave ability or punch to move the ball around. Players can generally bounce, ride walls, and do a variety of moves to move the ball. Lucio still has a speed boost, while his Ultimate has been substituted with a new ability that draws the ball toward him. In some parts of the "Overwatch" map, Lucio can jump high into the air. The mode also features new sound effects.

The new "Overwatch" update also comes with character skins themed after the Olympics, for Lucio, Tracer and Zarya. Players can unlock the skins by opening Summer Games Loot Boxes, which are limited in number and guaranteed to contain at least one new cosmetic item. The update provides over 100 new aesthetic items, such as sprays, skins and player icons. Upon opening "Overwatch," gamers will get one cosmetic item for free. The rest can be earned by playing or via a purchase using real-world money. The standard Loot Boxes are temporarily unavailable form the story.

PlayStation Blog stated that according to Blizzard, the new "Overwatch" update is their very first seasonal event, although they plan to feature more in the near future. More maps, modes and Loot Boxes are expected to arrive soon.

The new "Overwatch" update is currently live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and will continue until Aug. 22, 2016. More updates and details are expected soon.
