Millions of fans are still waiting for Niantic to globally release the popular "Pokemon GO" game. Now, new reports are claiming that the highly-addictive game has already been released in Brazil just in time for the Rio Olympics 2016.

Niantic releases 'Pokemon GO' in conjunction with Rio Olympics 2016 kickoff

Sources from Sao Paulo EXCLUSIVELY told GamenGuide that people in Brazil can now play the "Pokemon GO" despite the fact that the game has not been officially released in the country. The news came out after Niantic divulged via the official "Pokemon GO" Twitter account that it is really working hard to release the game in the South American country.

"Working hard to roll out Pokémon GO to Brazil. Stay tuned..." Niantic divulged in the official "Pokemon GO" Twitter account. The Guardian reports that the game developer is really hopeful to roll out the game before the big event kicks off on Friday.

However, a Niantic representative has declined to comment on the exact date of the "Pokemon GO" release in Brazil. With the revelation of the GamenGuide source, it is safe to say that Pokemon fans can now start "catching them all."

Rio Olympics 2016 athlete incurred $5k data charges for playing 'Pokemon GO' in Brazil

Meanwhile, Kyodo News reports that a gymnastics athlete named Kohei Uchimura has been charged with a total of $5,000 as data roaming charges after playing "Pokemon GO" in Brazil. Sources have claimed that the sportsperson forgot to adjust his phone plan before setting off for the Rio Olympics 2016.

Kohei Uchimura has revealed to Kyodo News that he downloaded the "Pokemon GO" application after arriving in Sao Paulo without the knowledge that he does not have a flat rate for using the data abroad. However, the gymnastics gold medalist got totally shocked when he checked his bill that amounted to 500,000 yen or $5,000.

Kyodo News added Kohei Uchimura has contacted his service provider and explained what really happened to him. Fortunately, he got exempted of the 3,000 yen or $30 daily flat rate of "Pokemon GO" data usage.

Despite the sudden "Pokemon GO" release in Brazil, fans are still wondering if Niantic will be releasing tha game globally soon. GamenGuide has previously reported that no worldwide launching is expected since the game developer has to make sure that everything is ready to avoid technical glitches.
