'Overwatch' Latest News & Update: Blizzard Warns Players Not To Abuse Lucioball Bug, Or They'll Ban You [VIDEO]

Lucioball, the fun soccer-themed special "Overwatch" mode that was made to celebrate this year's Summer Olympics in Rio, has an unfortunate glitch players are now abusing. Where the game mode is supposed to be exclusive to the character Lucio, players have found a way to play it as other heroes. As you might imagine, that messes up the mode in a huge way.

We don't know how players exactly manage to do this, or how the "Overwatch" glitch allows you to play as other heroes, but it's here. Blizzard is currently hard at work at fixing it, and the only reason why they haven't put out a patch to solve it is because there are other unrelated issues within the game's code that are currently preventing them from uploading the fix. Check out samples of players managing to pick other heroes in this video:

It's hilarious, especially for the cheater, but we can imagine how it won't be fun for other "Overwatch" players. The point of the mode is to play a version of football using the Brazilian hero Lucio, not to start taking everyone's head off using the other heroes. Cheaters will definitely find ways to screw with the game.

According to Kotaku, Blizzard, through "Overwatch" director Jeff Kaplan, have already warned players to not exploit the bug, for obvious reasons. Now there's a report from Reddit from yesterday claiming that Blizzard has started serving seven-day bans for players abusing the glitch.

The seven-day "Overwatch" ban isn't much, considering that players are cheating in a mode that is just in the game for fun, but it's long enough for players to consider not violating the rules again. They should at least be thankful their accounts aren't permanently banned (Blizzard has done much worse for cheaters in Quick Play and Ranked modes). Lucioball will be in the game until the end of the month.
