Jeremy Lin is pumped up and so are the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets may not be among the favourites for the 2016-17 NBA season though they are not totally discounted.
Comparing the Nets roster with other teams, the only chance could be teamwork. Brook Lopez is still the main man and Jeremy Lin hopes to compliment all that, the reason behind the hyped “Brook-Lin” moniker.
Atkinson-Lin partnership returns to New York
First year head coach Kenny Atkinson hopes to make it all work. He knows how to utilize Lin, having worked with the American-Asian when both were the New York Knicks.
The scenario right now is different and both will be out to prove that they have a special bond that can reap dividends for the ‘other’ team in New York. Lin has had an erratic NBA run though he is hoping to at least maintain his level at the moment. He is coming off a good year with the Charlotte Hornets though he played mostly as someone coming off the bench.
Stand and deliver
His role with the Nets is different. Lin is expected to start and the responsibility goes beyond scoring and playmaking. He needs to stand up as the leader and help out Atkinson in keeping the team together.
From that alone, there is no question that Lin has a big load on his shoulders. The tasks have doubled but he is ready for the challenge.
Jeremy Lin is pretty much aware that if there is a time to evolve, that time is now. He is 27 and believes that this is the stage where NBA careers make or break.
Lin finds himself in a scenario where only he can botch it. He has a coach who believes in him while surrounded by players who can make a difference. Jeremy Lin and the Nets try to see what tweaks may be needed on Oct. 26 when they face the Boston Celtics.
